About Us
We have been making treats for our own dogs for over 9 years. It all started with Bob, a one-year old Australian Shepherd, who we rescued from an animal shelter on New Years Eve 1997. While we were away from the house, Bob displayed classic separation anxiety with general destructive behaviour. To tackle this, we made the most delicious dog treats that were used to distract her when we left the house and to reward her good behaviour on our return. We knew that we were on to a good thing when Bob stopped chewing the furniture and distributing the contents of the rubbish bin around the house and settled on finding ways to open the cupboard in which we kept her special muffins. Being flavoured with nutmeg and cinnamon, who could blame Bob for being a monkey and finding ways to get them? Upon returning home, Bob would guide us through the house on our inspection and, if she had been good, she would earn her Bee Good Cookie. With her separation anxiety under control, Bob began to excel at more constructive activities. She became a certified therapy dog, visiting nursing homes, bringing much joy to the staff and the residents. She also competed in many agility trials. Sadly, Bob is no longer with us, but her adopted siblings, Klassy and Shep, have embraced their roles as chief tasting officers and ensure that we maintain the highest standards. Klassy is a therapy dog and also a certified R.E.A.D.® dog, who helps young children with their reading (see News Hound for more details about the R.E.A.D. programme). Shep displays great skills when it comes to chasing things, but always comes running back for one of his Training Treats. Their good behaviour is always rewarded with our hand made goodies. We hope that you and your dog will enjoy using our treats as much as we have.

About our products and their ingredients.
We have enjoyed the unconditional love of dogs for many years. For us, nothing beats a dog's welcome upon returning home regardless of how long you have been away, or how they snuggle up with you. They love you so much they seem to want to occupy the same space as you – either that or they want to pinch the spot you have warmed up!

In a small way to repay their love, we have created this range of gourmet treats. It is important to us that our treats are healthy. Therefore, we do not use salt or refined sugar – two items that are potentially harmful to dogs – and are careful not to use ingredients that may contain these items. We firmly believe in using only natural ingredients and, therefore, do not use artificial colours, preservatives or flavourings. Instead, we use human-quality ingredients that we have carefully selected to produce the best-quality treats possible. We use organic ingredients wherever possible.

Dogs do have a sweet tooth and we sweeten some of our treats with organic honey and blackstrap molasses. The benefits of the former are well known. The latter is rich in calcium, iron, potassium as well as B vitamins and vitamin E. We use Meridian Organic Blackstrap molasses, which has a robust bitter-sweet flavour that our dogs love. Sweetness and flavour is added using apple, bananas and carrot. The tangy flavour of our muffins comes from buttermilk or natural yogurt. Many of our treats contain wonderful spices such as cloves, nutmeg, ginger and cinnamon. We also like to use carob, which is a dog-safe alternative to chocolate, as well as fresh herbs, such as parsley and mint.
